Dr. Sheher Banu Mohsin is a pioneering scientist in the field of mass spectrometry, with over 30 years of experience advancing analytical chemistry in both industry and government settings. She is internationally recognized for her work in lipidomics, metabolomics, PFAS analysis, and regulatory science.

Dr. Mohsin brings not just deep expertise in mass spectrometry, but also a passion for mentoring scientists, simplifying complex data, and helping clients translate data into meaningful discoveries in lipidomics and metabolomics.

Her career spans impactful roles at leading institutions such as Agilent Technologies, Bayer, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). At Bayer, she served as a principal mass spectrometrist, responsible for analyzing unknowns in chemicals and developing IC/MS, GC/MS, LC/MS, and LC/MS/MS methods to support regulatory product submissions. At the EPA, she contributed to the detection and assessment of persistent environmental contaminants, helping shape protocols for high-confidence trace-level analysis.

A key part of Dr. Mohsin’s legacy is her technical innovation in mass spectrometry. She played a leading role in:

- Designing the GC-APCI source

- Pioneering the interface of Ion Chromatography with Mass Spectrometry

- Developing multidimensional Chromatography with SFC and HPLC

- Advancing ion mobility workflows for high-resolution analysis

- Creating custom tools and workflows to annotate untargeted lipidomics data

- Predicting collision cross sections (CCS) to aid in structure elucidation
